Level of Care
The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place offers three separate units to meet the needs of a variety of patients.
The Acute Care Unit at The Pavilion provides an intensive level of compassionate psychiatric care for individuals who are an immediate danger to themselves or others, or are experiencing severe dysfunction due to a psychiatric condition. Patients are usually admitted to the program under a temporary detention order (TDO). The goal is to assist each patient in regaining control of their behaviors. This is done through participation in individual and group therapy, therapeutic activities, and psychopharmacology. Family members and significant others are involved in treatment whenever possible.
Our Geriatric Program targets the needs of adults ages 55 and over. It treats people who are dealing with issues related to aging, including dementia, depression, anxiety, mood and behavior changes, and even substance abuse. Treatment is based on the principles of Milieu Therapy in which patients are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and the others within a group. We provide a safe, supportive, and secure group environment in which older adults can receive comprehensive psychiatric care and return to a stable level of functioning.
