Upon admission and with patient consent, families are contacted for collateral and history. They have a role in the assessment process, since they are often aware of the patient’s recent behavior and any past hospitalizations. When possible, the family is involved in inpatient care. Throughout the patient’s stay, the family is given regular updates on their loved one’s well being and progress.
The family also has a role to play in aftercare, and patients with a strong family support system often have an easier time adjusting posttreatment. We provide the family with information they can use to help the patient stay on track after discharge. They can also assist the patient with follow up care and life-skills.
Due to the Mood Unit Programming, family interaction with patients during their treatment is limited. Visitation hours are as follows:
Monday - Friday 5:30PM- 6:30PM
Saturday- Sunday 2:00PM-4:00PM
Holidays 2:00PM- 4:00PM
Special Arrangements and established telephone hours are available through Pavilion Nursing Supervisors.
